School Updates

January Remote Meal Service Location Change!

Families, we are excited to continue offering our remote meal service and have a location change for January. 

Meals for the following dates can be picked up at 85 St. Jacob Street, from 9AM-1PM:

• Monday, January 4th
• Monday, January 11th
• Friday, January 15th

We will resume our normal meal service on Friday, January 22nd. Have a happy and safe winter break!

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan: Update on our commitments

As we draw to the end of the calendar year, we want to share an update on our progress in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commitments we made at the start of the school year. You can read our update here.

Rochester Prep is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year!

Current students do not need to re-apply. If your Rochester Prep student has a sibling entering Kindergarten, make sure you apply before the application deadline of April 1st, 2021 to get preference in our lottery! If you have any family or friends who would like to join one of the highest performing charter schools in Rochester, have them apply at rochesterprep.org/enroll!

Reminder: Parent/Guardian Survey Coming in January!

In early January, we will launch a brief survey for all parents and guardians. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and feedback directly with us as we work to provide the highest quality schools for your child(ren). The survey will open on Monday, January 4th and close on Sunday, January 17th. You will receive a link to the survey via email once it opens. We look forward to hearing from you!

Rochester Prep Family Champions Facebook Group:

We have launched a group on Facebook just for you. We will still maintain our public Facebook page and we encourage you to “like” it if you haven’t already. We will continue to post items about our school that are of interest to the general public. Our parents’ group is private and only open to parents. It will provide timely and accurate information specifically for Rochester Prep parents, such as announcements about school re-openings, COVID-19 testing availability and upcoming Family Champion meetings. As we continue to deal with the pandemic, it’s important for us to share information with you in as many ways as possible. We encourage you to join the group so that you can stay informed.

After you click on the link, you will be taken to a page on Facebook where you can request to join the group. You will be asked one question: whether you are a parent of a Rochester Prep student. Once you answer that, we’ll get notified and let you into the group.

Rochester Prep Family Champions Meeting January 27th:

Our next Rochester Prep Family Champions meeting to Wednesday, January 27 at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. We’ll receive an overview of the fundamentals of financial literacy. Join us to learn about practical financial strategies that can be easily implemented even at this uncertain time.

Family Champions meet on a monthly basis, and you are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible to stay abreast of current news and hear about resources and opportunities available throughout our community.

Family Champions who attend 3 consecutive meetings will receive a  gift card as a token of appreciation for partnership when you fill out the feedback forms after each meeting.

• Enrollment is taking place now for New York’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). To determine program eligibility, please see income guidelines here.
• MicroCollege, a unique college-pathway program designed for graduating seniors who are college-bound, but not yet college-ready, is hosting an information session about an innovative college pathway program that enables high school seniors to attend college for one or more years at no cost. More information is available here.
• Join City of Rochester officials to learn how we are coming together as a community to create jobs, build safe and vibrant neighborhoods and generate educational opportunities for all.
• College students seeking a summer internship for 2021, please don’t miss this excellent opportunity! Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has started the recruitment process for their 2021 Summer College Internship Program.
• Visit the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information Center for regular updates and notifications.
