Dear Troy Prep Families,

School Set upCongratulations on kicking off the 2020-21 school year! Across our 55 Uncommon schools, the joy and resilience of our community is shining through as we launch into a school year unlike any other. Remote learning is off to a successful start with students participating in community meetings, connecting with friends and teachers, and exploring new books and ideas.

We have spent the summer preparing our schools for your child’s safe return (see photos above).  We are so excited to welcome them back when we launch in person. As a reminder, remote learning will continue through at least October 5. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing more detailed information related to our launch of hybrid instruction. Thank you for your continued partnership as we navigate this new way of doing school and being in community together. We recognize how much you as parents and caregivers are juggling during these uncertain times and we appreciate YOU!

School Updates

Remote Learning Meal Distribution:

During remote learning, Troy Prep will offer a food service drive on the following Fridays: Sep. 11, Sep. 18, Sep. 25

During this time, families can pick up a pre-packaged box containing five breakfast and five lunch meals for any student who attends Troy Prep. Times and locations are as follows:

  • 9am – 12pm at Duke Street Alleyway (between Troy Prep Middle and High schools)
  • 12pm – 3pm at Douw Street (at Troy Prep Elementary)

Note: Families can go to any campus to pick up food, not just the campus your child attends. Please email info@troyprep.org if you have any questions regarding the food service drive.

Resources

Wellness Corner: Student and Parent Wellness Activity

The new school year is here and there is no better time to prioritize family wellness! We are excited to share with you resources related to child, parent, and family self-care. Self-care is about HOW you take care of yourself, not IF you do. It is really anything that we deliberately do (or refrain from doing) with our own well-being in mind.

Take some time to create a self-care plan for you, your child, and your family!

Vote to Make Your Voice Heard:

One of the most important elections of our generations is coming up this November. Make sure that you’re not left out and your voice is heard! Who we elect as the next President will matter greatly in the area of education, women’s rights, immigration, prison reform, crime, healthcare access and so many other issues that impact our communities.

To help support you during this election year, we are excited to launch our Uncommon votes page! Please use this page to find info on voting deadlines and links to look up your registration status, register to vote, and request your absentee/vote-by-mail ballots. Use this site to make a voting plan to ensure that your voice is heard!

If you have any questions, please contact your school leaders.
