Dear Camden Prep Families,

In the last two weeks, we have been filled with hope: our nation witnessed a historic presidential Inauguration, the Biden-Harris administration has taken immediate actions to support our communities, and our schools in NYC, Boston, Rochester, and Troy have welcomed students back for in person learning. In Brooklyn, this is the first time our students have entered our buildings this school year. We are so excited for our students to have the option to be physically in school and we are so grateful to our leaders, teachers, ops and regional teams for making this possible. We continue to find hope in all of you – our 20,000 Uncommon families across our six regions – as you continue to parent through the pandemic and run along side our team as we support our students together. Thank you for continuing to persevere and inspire our Uncommon community.

On a different note, this newsletter will move from being bi-weekly to monthly start with the February 12th edition. Please continue to reach out to your school leaders.

School Updates

Parent/Guardian Survey Thanks:

Thank you so much for completing our mid-year Parent/Guardian survey! We value your feedback on what is working well and what can be even better, and your survey input will help shape our ongoing work and plans for next year.

Opt in for Aramark Meal Deliveries:

Our commitment to providing meals remains the same as we shift to a new model and close our doors for distribution. Rather than picking up meals, Aramark will deliver them to you! They have shifted to solely deliveries based on zip code to better serve our community as the weather changes. Since Aramark serves the city of Camden, you will be able to receive meals for all your Camden school-age children. We hope this is more convenient for you! To receive free delivered meals, you must complete this survey and you must respond to Aramark’s confirmation email to complete your request. Please be on the lookout for their follow up email! Once your information is confirmed, within 7 days you will begin to receive meals weekly.

Free Middle School Online Math Program – deadline to apply is 2/1:

The RISC Math Accelerator is offering all Uncommon middle school students a free, online after-school math program to get your child caught up and ahead in math. Your middle school child will receive a free membership to an online math platform that creates a personalized curriculum AND free access to live, on-call experienced math tutors available every weekday for homework help. Parents receive weekly updates on student progress. Students work at their own pace on topics at their level and can contact tutors any time they need help. Deadline for signing up is February 1st – learn more at or for more information, contact RISC directly at or 310-913-2684.

Reminder: Black History Month T-Shirts:

We are so excited to celebrate Black History Month as a Camden Prep community during the month of February. Although our celebration may look a bit different, we will continue the tradition of selling a themed Black History Month t-shirt! This year’s t-shirts will represent the 2021 Black History Month theme: Celebrating Black Voices. The t-shirt design celebrates the historic election of Vice President Kamala Harris, and features powerful words from her victory speech in November: “Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourselves in a way that others may not simply because they’ve never seen it before.”

If you are interested in purchasing the 2021 Black History Month t-shirt, please click on the link below to order directly from the vendor. Each t-shirt will remain $10 plus the cost of shipping, and will be shipped directly to your home.

  • T-Shirt Shop Link:
  • The t-shirt shop is open now and will remain open well into the month of February.
  • Given a processing time of 14 days and added shipping time, we encourage you to order t-shirts as soon as possible in order to receive your shirt in time for Black History Month.
