From the BBC to the Old Bailey....

July was a very busy month for CMF and we were delighted that many of you joined us and helped make our events such a success!
In the space of two weeks our CMF Artists played live on BBC Radio 3, in the Mercers’ Hall, at the Musicians’ Church of St Sepulchre without Newgate, in the Guildhall Yard, and in the Grand Hall of the Old Bailey. The City Beerfest attracted thousands whilst other events were more intimate, giving access to some of the City’s stunning yet hard to access spaces. Our particular thanks go to the City of London Festival who helped us make much of this happen!
And in the midst of this we held auditions for our 2014 CMF Artists! The standard was extremely high and the judges had a very difficult time deciding between them. We are now getting to know and working with the selected musicians and can’t wait to present them to you in the autumn!
With our best wishes for a relaxing and enjoyable summer!

City Beerfest 2014
The sun shone, the bells rang out, and we raised over £28,000 to support our CMF Artists!
More than 3000 City workers, visitors and beer enthusiasts packed out the beautiful and historic Guildhall Yard in the heart of the City on Thursday 3rd July for the hugely successful City Beerfest 2014. Thanks to our sponsors Shepherd and Wedderburn, Daniel Watney, Myers Clark and Hempsons; to our partners the City of London Festival and the Worshipful Company of Brewers, and to the thousands of people who came along on the day and made this such a success.

The Recorder of London
On 10th July CMF brought together the legal and musical Recorders of London in a very special evening of music and words at the Musicians’ Church (St Sepulchre without Newgate) starring CMF Artist Miriam Nerval (recorders) and the Recorder of London HH Judge Brian Barker, QC. The proceedings continued in the Grand Hall of the Old Bailey with a drinks reception, an encore under the dome (a duet with CMF’s Chairman Sir Roger Gifford!) and a grilling of HH Judge Brian Barker and CMF Patron Simon Callow in Court One!

Brahms on the Radio and in the Mercers’ Hall

At the start of the month CMF Artists Mikhail Nemtsov and Mari Poll, together with pianists Jennifer Hughes and Elena Nemtsova, shared their passion for Brahms’ chamber music with audiences in the beautiful livery hall setting of the Mercers’ Company and live on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune programme. This was so successful that the musicians are already planning future collaborations…!
