City Music Foundation
 Dr Clare Taylor

Greetings to all our supporters and followers!

Since our last newsletter, exactly a month ago on St Valentine's Day, we have been busy on all fronts.

Read on to find out more - and please support us. We need your help to continue with this level and range of activity as we promote these fantastic young professional musicians.

Come to the events - make a donation through Just Giving - and spread the word!

- the second Hospital Club Residency concert, a stunning recital given by Andrey Lebedev,
- the John Gardner Centenary concert with ECO - with fantastic reviews for Tabea Debus and Hannah Morgan in The Times
- and Mihai Ritivoiu played (and read poetry) in an entertainment entitled Composers and Writers as Portraitists at the Wallace Collection, curated by CMF Patron Iain Burnside and featuring past GSMD gold medalist, baritone William Dazeley.

We have been arranging workshops - a Tech Surgery as well as vocal coaching for public speaking - and mentoring sessions. Plus we have been planning recitals, concerts, an opera and a Beerfest as well as commissioning new music. See below for more details.
As if that was not enough, our glossy NEW CMF WEBSITE has gone live this week - and applications through our new integrated online form are open for the 2017 CMF Artist Programme.
If you know anyone whom you think should be applying, please let them know.

Third lunchtime concert at the Hospital Club
Friday 31 March at 1 pm

In the next instalment of our monthly concerts, CMF presents award-winning soprano Raphaela Papadakis, who will be singing a Cabaret programme  including works by Schoenberg, Britten, Poulenc and many more.

London-born soprano Raphaela Papadakis made her professional début at Garsington Opera in 2014, giving the “most attractive solo performance” of the show (Financial Times). Since then, she has performed with the Royal Opera House (cover Nymph, Orfeo), Independent Opera (Anna, Biedermann and the Arsonists), and the Berlin State Opera (cover Branghien, Le vin herbé). A passionate recitalist, Raphaela made her début at Carnegie Hall in 2014, and was a Vocal Fellow at the Ravinia Festival, Chicago. Her many awards include 1st prizes at the Mozart Competition, Clonter Opera Competition, the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, and the York Early Music Festival Prize at the London Handel Festival. She is a Samling, IMA, and City Music Foundation Artist, and a winner of the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists. She studied at Clare College, Cambridge, graduating with a first-class degree in English Literature, and at the Guildhall with Janice Chapman.
