Seminar on Food Additives: A Global Perspective on Safety Evaluation and Use

July 23, 2018, Manila, Philippines

A food additive is a substance that, without itself constituting a food or having nutritional value, is intentionally added to foods and beverages in minimal quantities with the aim of modifying its organoleptic characteristics, such as  colors and sweeteners, or for technological purposes, such as preservatives and anti-oxidants. This 1-day seminar is organized by ILSI SEA Region, together with ILSI SEA Region Philippines and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service, in collaboration with the FDA Philippines. The seminar will share international approaches, procedures and data requirements for food additive safety assessment, including the development of safety standards, consumer perceptions towards food additives, as well as case studies of selected categories of food additives.
