OUR CURRENCY IS UNDER PRESSURE – WHAT TO DO ?

As everyone knows, our currency is under extreme pressure right now and this is largely due to international economic instability.  The effect of this is far reaching and could potentially have an adverse impact on you directly, especially as a Business Owner.

Imported Goods, Plant and Machinery, Equipment and Spares, Electronic Items, raw materials or imported stock – all of these items will now be costing more to replace and Insurers will scrutinize the values insured in the event of a claim. This would also apply to those who purchase commodities in South Africa  whereby the pricing structures are set on international markets and linked to the US Dollar.

Now is the time to revalue your Assets – leaving this exercise until your renewal date could prove costly. Where under-insurance prevails, Insurers will apportion claim settlements accordingly.

Sum Insured
__________                     X   Loss  =   Pay-out

Actual Value

Therefore………………………….

R100 000

-----------                              X  R5 000  =  R2 500 payout

R200 000

The standard “Average” clause will apply to all Fire classes of business, Buildings, Office Contents, Business Interruption cover, Electronic Equipment and even the Glass section……..please call your Broker to discuss your sums insured as soon as possible in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises at  claim stage.
ARE YOU THINKING OF BUYING A NEW CAR??

Please let our Office have details of the new vehicle as soon as possible (even if you are still deciding on the actual make and model).   This will allow us enough time to survey the Market adequately before you take delivery.

We want to secure the most appropriate cover for you however, leaving this until Minute 99 on a Friday afternoon restricts this exercise.

SECURITY ALERT

Following a recent spate of break-ins involving suspects gaining entry into properties by climbing trees close to perimeter fences, we urge you to take the following advice:
  • Keep all trees and vegetation near to boundary walls and fences trimmed down
  • Secure garden sheds, storage units and domestic quarters
  • Check to make sure that all fences and walls/gates are in good condition
  • Adequate lighting around your home and garden should be considered
  • Outside beams allow you an early warning of any intruder entering your property
  • Items such as ladders, spades, picks etc should not be left out in the open

BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND BE ALERT
