Aussies bring home bronze medal!
The Aus3de would like to congratulate the Australian 2016 Rio Olympic Eventing team on their bronze medal achievement.
Australia took home bronze medal in the eventing team competition after a dramatic finish that went down to the final rider at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The Aussies led the team competition after the cross-country leg, but with the elimination of Aus3de 2015 winner Shane Rose, the team had to count all three rounds in the jumping final.

Stuart Tinney had 17 penalties on Pluto Mio, which put Australia out of first place. Sam Griffiths then went clear on his horse Paulank Brockagh to put Australia back in the race for gold.

It set up a frantic finish, where a clear round from German world number one Michael Jung put his team in the gold medal position, only for France to take over with a clear from Nicolas Astier on Piaf de b’Neville.

The final competitor, previous Aus3de winner Chris Burton, who had led the individual competition after the cross-country – had a chance to give Australia the gold with a clear round. He had two rails down, however, leaving his team in the bronze medal position and securing the Olympic title for France.

Burton finished fifth and compatriot Griffiths was fourth in the individual jumping final.

Well done Aussies for bringing home bronze!

Aus3de to host finale of new ‘Dual Crown’ of Eventing and Jumping Series

As the Southern Hemisphere’s premier equestrian event, the Aus3de is proud to be hosting the finale of the inaugural ‘Dual Crown’ series of Eventing and Jumping, as recently announced by Equestrian Australia.

Aus3de Event Director Gillian Rolton said Adelaide will provide a spectacular backdrop as host of the finale of the Dual Crown in November and deliver an exciting competition for spectators to the event, with the series sure to attract the best riders and horses from across Australia and New Zealand in both eventing and jumping.

“This year, we’ve introduced the RM Williams CIC3* into the Aus3de competition program which will create an effective pathway for riders to reach the highest level in eventing and to compete in the FEI Classic Series CCI4*, as well as the Dual Crown of Eventing,” she said.

Following the success of the show jumping held in 2015 as part of the Equestrian Australia Grand Final, the Aus3de will also host the Thomas Foods International World Cup Qualifier Show Jumping, which will decide the winner of the Dual Crown of Jumping.

“It is only through the generous sponsorship of the South Australian State Government that this series can be delivered and we have no doubt that this higher level of competition will provide even more incentive for spectators to attend the Australian International 3 Day Event in November,” said Ms Rolton.

A number of New Zealand riders have confirmed they will be making the journey across the ditch this November to compete in the beautiful Adelaide parklands for the 2016 Aus3de.

Aus3de Event Director Gillian Rolton said the New Zealand riders are proving to be very competitive on an international scale, and it will be an asset for the event to have them here in November.

"We have had some very talented riders compete at the Aus3de, including Olympian Clarke Johnstone in 2015," Gill said. "We are very pleased that this support will continue in 2016."

"We have already had a number of groups of Kiwi supporters book into our accommodation and ticket packages and look forward to welcoming more Kiwi’s who are organising their  trip across the ditch," she said.

One rider, Katharine Van Tuyl and her horse Double J Sunshine, will be competing in the CIC4*.

Katharine said she is currently fundraising for her trip and plans to bring nine year old sport horse, "Sunny" to the event.

"We are prepared to come to Adelaide in November," she said. "We have just had an amazing season here in New Zealand. We won the super league series which is the series for CIC*** horses.

"I did a facebook auction which went incredibly well, I really can't believe how kind people have been to me! I'm 3/4 of the way to my target for fundraising, so all going well with a sound horse I'm definitely coming.

"I did come to Adelaide 11 years ago in the NZ team for the Trans Tasman but fell off! So looking to keep a leg each side this trip!" she said.
