Letter from Allison:

As Head of School for a Day, Callum gave us some good advice on Monday’s Community Meeting, the last one of the year for 4/5s-2nd grade: “Each year there is a new hard. But you’ll learn and get used to it. And then the new hard becomes actually quite easy.”

What a perfect quote for life in general, for a week ending with portfolio shares for Blue School students, and for a week in which a woman became a presumptive nominee for President of the United States. There is much “hard” ahead on all of these fronts, but we can take a pause to notice that we achieved something, to breathe deeply, and to prepare for the next hard, the push, and for the easy to hopefully follow.

News & Weekly Recap

Summer Reading Lists

Pat recently published a blog post about Blue School's summer reading list. Please read full post here.  A list of books for summer reading is included below.

An excerpt from that post: Through perusal of many, many outstanding picture books, the faculty and I have decided upon a summer read. This summer we are asking that all children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade read, Thunder Boy Jr. by Sherman Alexie. Please make sure that your child reads the book over the summer because s/he will be given an activity based on the book within the first days of school. This book, and all the books on the connected summer reading list can be purchased through Amazon*.  You may also want to use the summer as an opportunity to reconnect with your local public library. Libraries are magical places with lots of free programs in the summer.

Happy Reading!

* Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Blue School whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. Use this link to select Blue School as your designated organization.
