Anatomy of a Major Website Project

Thinking about starting a major, integrated website project?  Don't panic! We've got tips to help you get planning.

In a packed session at least week's NTC16, Percolator Co-Founder Karen Uffelman, Seattle nonprofit The Mountaineers, and web development shop Jazkarta walked through the anatomy of a successful major website project. They shared tips for making sure your new site engages the right audiences and integrates with the rest of your technology stack. They also shared advice for mitigating bumps in the road and highlighted where projects can go wrong. Check out the slide deck with presenter notes:

Test for mobile

Is that donation page you just created mobile-friendly?

Keep your integrations working

Salesforce admins know well the Critical Update pop-up that appears when you visit Setup. If you use integrated apps for things like mass email and online donations, you'll likely want to wait to activate the new TLS 1.1 Critical Update. Several popular apps are still working on compatibility: the Power of Us Hub community is maintaining a list. The update isn't mandatory until next year, so it's fine to wait.

Go for it

We did! We just upgraded the Percolator website. We wanted a site where we could show off the great work our clients do every day and tell the Percolator story.

Coffee Break is where the folks at Percolator Consulting share the links, thoughts, and images, that have been percolating in our office.  We promise it will be just the stimulating bit of distraction you need to help you do your work better and smarter (or at least, it will be interesting).
