New Year's Resolutions:

Have you lost motivation yet?

Today is January 31st, and thus almost one month since New Year's Day (and coincidentally, Chinese New Year's Day). By this stage, those of us who took new year's resolutions will have given up on them. People give up on new year's resolutions for a number of reasons, but how can we accomplish the goals that are important to us? Last August I wrote an article about budgeting your accomplishments and how it can help increase motivation and reduce negative affect. Six months have passed since then, and with that time I have used the technique to help motivated me to do over 10,000 push ups, and move from doing 10 at a time, to occasionally reaching 100 at a time. This method allows me to focus on my successes rather than failures, and helps provide information to challenge negative thoughts. Why not try something similar yourself?
