Newest Board Member

Amanda Hepper has served the Body of Christ both locally and internationally.  Locally she has volunteered with the Union Gospel Mission here in Spokane to counsel women who are in the process of transforming their physical life through the power of God and support from their brothers and sisters in Christ.  Internationally she has supported mission work both in East Africa and Central America as an individual and while on staff at Life Center.  Amanda has been a vocal supporter of CHE (Community Health Evangelism) ministries in Ethiopia and Kenya and we are fortunate to have her on our five-member board of directors.

CHE Association of Nicaragua

We work closely with the CHE Association of Nicaragua in their efforts to bring the Kingdom of God to Nicaragua.  Here are some of the exciting things God is doing through the CHE Association of Nicaragua:
Leon CHE Communities Thriving and Multiplying

Three years ago Samaritan’s Purse Canada began supporting CHE groups in the Leon area of Nicaragua.  Today six communities are thriving and growing.  They’ve partnered with FIEMCA, a Nicaraguan evangelical church, to build a place of worship and recently have reached out to another six communities that after seeing the results had on the original communities asked for CHE training.

Buying Sewing Machines on Time
Another very popular CHE Nicaragua program is the selling of sewing machines on time.  Donors in the US give $104 to buy a durable sewing machine that is sold to CHE trained women who then pay for the machine by selling products they’ve produced.  The CHE Association of Nicaragua has the women pay the money back in a few months and then uses that money to buy another sewing machine for a person who can’t afford one.

CHE is Expanding in Nicaragua

Johannes and Angelika Keppler, have been working with the CHE Association, alongside Dania and Jose Luis Jimenez in northern Nicaragua for several years now. The Kepplers are both agriculturists and have been very helpful in supporting CHE communities with advice on how to grow better crops. Now they will be able to share their expertise to the people around La Rosita.

A Latin Link team of students stays with CHE families and enjoy learning about life in rural Nicaragua

DAI (Development Associates International-- http://www.daintl.org/} has been providing valuable training to our CHE team.

  • The Development Associates International trainings
  • The many who have come to faith and continue to grow closer to God and are strengthen in their faith

What Can I do?

First, please pray as above, and as the Lord leads!
Concrete ways to support God’s work in Nicaragua:
  • Consider committing to support the offering for an area leader, such as Mayerling. She worked for two years to have a CHE Vision Seminar in her community. The CHE for Children ministry has captivated her, and the children love her. Not only does she have leadership and organizational abilities, but her vegetable garden was the best of all last year!
  • How about this - four families/Sunday School classes/fellowship groups could contribute $12.50 a month, and that would be Mayerling’s offering! Those contributing would receive updates on Mayerling’s work.
  • Or this - the First Congregational church of Harford just had a yard sale, and raised 3 months support for Jose Luis and Dania! Wonderfully, they are going to do it again.
  • Or this - Pat and Sherry make beautiful hand-made cards, which they dearly love to do, and sell them to their friends. They have contributed several month’s support, too!
  • AND, you can participate by buying their cards on Etsy!  https://www.etsy.com/shop/HopeMarketplaceCards
Have a card party, take a few to your Bible study, or to work.
  • If you are interested in bringing a team to Nicaragua, please contact Anne Thompson.  Her phone number is 570-504-5908 or you can contact her at thompam02@gmail.com.

You can VISIT the person(s) you support! Visit their neighbors, go to church with them, sit around the table with them and their family, go for a hike…….   We would set that up for you.

What ideas do you have? Let us know! Let’s work shoulder to shoulder with CHE in Nicaragua’s rural communities.
