Marine Results signs sponsorship with 49er Olympic pathway team
Marine Results has agreed a sponsorship package with British Sailing Team duo Megan Brickwood and her crew Ellie Aldridge from Poole, to support their bid to represent the UK at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 49er FX class.

The pair are currently based in Cadiz, Spain with the British Sailing Team for winter training.  Squad camps are held each month to allow the sailors to gain time on the water with warmer temperatures and longer days than the UK would offer.  Read more.
New standing rigging for Oman's The Tour fleet
Oman Sail's fleet of Farr 30s underwent a makeover in the run up to the 'EFG Sailing Arabia - The Tour 2017' which got underway at the Al Mouj Marina in Muscat on 14 February and finishes in Dubai on 1 March. Each yacht has been supplied a new standing rigging package from Marine Results on a very quick turnaround and within the original budget.  The project is part of a constant service that Marine Results provides to Oman Sail in support of their national initiative to promote sailing at national and international level for young people. Squall:  a lorry load of rig components get NDT treatment
The Marine Results team has recently been on the dockside in Palma, Mallorca taking care of the rigs of the Dubois designed Perini Navi Squall.  Another of the world's big sailing yachts at 52.34m (171ft 8"), Squall's rigs are large and complex.  After unstepping, more than 360 components, were shipped to the company's central facility in Hamble for non-destructive testing (NDT) using their dye penetrant process, to detect any tiny flaws, in which case the component would be replaced.  The mast gets repainted and the rigging and hydraulics are also being serviced at OYS. Showcasing marine NDT at the Advanced Engineering Show
Giles Waterhouse, who leads Marine Results' NDT division, gave a presentation at the Advanced Engineering Show at the NEC, Birmingham in November.  The presentation was in support of the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing (BINDT) and was entitled The Application of NDT in the Marine Industry.  It covered the various techniques that Marine Results uses. Giles also spent time on the BINDT stand during the show to help the organisation promote formal training within the industry.  Read more.

Revisiting the giants of the superyacht world
The team has visited several legends of the superyacht world for annual rig services inspections, repairs and replacements in recent months.  M5 (formerly Mirabella V) had a full service in Auckland, as part of the yacht's regular maintenance programme including sail trials.  Kokomo III, 58.4m, had an autumn rig inspection before heading across the Atlantic, and the company dismantled the rig of a cruising 95 footer built by CMB, for inspection, after which it will be reassembled. The Dubois designed 52m Red Dragon is to receive a new rope package, specified and assembled by Marine Results.  Read more on all these stories.
Prana: five year service for sailing superyacht
Another of the majestic sailing superyachts designd by Dubois is the 52m (170ft) Prana.  Marine Results is carrying out a five year service on her mast.  She is one of a number of yachts that Marine Results is currently working on in Mallorca, alongside the dock in Palma. The eight year old yacht has had her mast lifted out and dismantled.  A huge consignment of components from the rig has been shipped back to Marine Results' Hamble UK facility by road and is currently undergoing dye penetrant inspections, while ropes are being inspected too.  Have a look at our video of the job in action.
We’re sponsoring Alan Roberts Racing’s Solitaire du Figaro again for 2017

Marine Results are renewing their sponsorship of British sailor Alan Roberts when he competes in his fourth Solitaire Bompard Le Figaro solo race during the summer of 2017.

We've stepped up our support of Alan’s campaign by providing a van and trailer, as well as equipment for this boat including new running rigging.  Once again we are lending our expertise to ensure his rig is in top form for the four-leg 1500 mile race when it starts in Lorient in June.

Alan, aged 27, is in a strong position to run an effective campaign with his 33ft (10.1m) Beneteau Figaro yacht - he has scored top Brit in the past two editions with a best race result of 3rd so far as well as topping the podium of the prologue in 2016. Read more.

Who needs NDT?
Masts, hulls, appendages and all types of yacht components that can come under load need regular NDT in order to satisfy a diverse number of requirements. From initial quality control at build stage, through claims during a warranty period or post-warranty insurance claim, there are varied reasons for inspections.  When a yacht changes hands, for example, a pre-purchase inspection is required.  Marine Results carries out regular inspections in all these situations.
