Department of Sound Selected to Receive 2019 Inspire Giving Grant
The Metro Chamber Foundation awarded its 9th Inspire Giving Grant to the Department of Sound. Founded by Music Producer/ DJ John Hamilton and Artist/Sound Engineer Tyler Garnett, Department of Sound will use the $10,000 grant to launch “Introduction to Music Production” workshops in South Sacramento.

Aligned with the Metro Chamber 4-Point Business Promise, the 2019 Inspire Giving grant focuses on arts engagement to create a more vibrant community.

In the workshops, students will learn about music production and engineering, with a focus on future career opportunities in music and live entertainment. Founder John Hamilton commented, “Learning how to make beats inspires students to flex their creative muscle and can spark their interest in the growing fields of sound engineering and production."

Since 2009, the Metro Chamber Foundation has awarded $95,000 in grants and over $1,000,000 in in-kind services. Learn more about Inspire Giving on the Foundation’s webpage, including how to contribute and participate in the 2020 grant selection.
