Dries Visser Safaris Newsletter: November 2017
That time of the year has come, where everybody is running around, trying to finish up all the year-end deadlines and last minute projects that needs to be finished off before everything starts closing down for the festive season.

And I am sure a lot of you are thinking, what on earth are we keeping ourselves busy with, with no hunters in camp and the hunting season all done and dusted?

Well, we do keep ourselves busy, even though there are no hunters in Camp, there are a lot that needs to be done. The animals do not take up fasting, now that the season is finish. They still need to eat. And if we are blessed enough with some great rains then they will be able to move onto natural feeding. Fresh grass and leaves will obviously be more preferable than dried out ones. In an ideal world there would be enough rain and vegetation all year around, but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that in our region. But I think what makes us stand out from some of the other Outfitters in South Africa, is that we are in the fortunate position to be able to feed our animals all year around, if it has to come to that. It’s no use you have comfortable accommodation, awesome hunting blinds etc. But you have no wildlife left in your hunting area.

The region that we live in is dependent on our summer rains from the months of October through to the end of March / beginning of April. A little bit different than the type of seasons our friends have in the States. And that is why we are grateful for each raindrop falling out of the sky, not just for us but for the wildlife.

With that said, we had a lot of requests from hunters that are looking to meet up with us during our Marketing tour of the states from January through to March 2018. It is not the easiest task to put together, but we really try to accommodate most of the regions. We decided to put extra time in attending some SCI banquets and Hunting Expo’s. And you might also see us at the archery shop around the corner from you.

Make a note in your diary, desk pad or iPhone or a knot in your ear.

It’s at shows like these that we get to meet some great hunters who turns into some amazing friendships. Just being able to listen to the peoples hunting stories and their whole experience of Africa, makes these shows all worth it. It is with a get together (similar to these) that we met a great guy, who ended up joining up with us in Africa for an awesome hunt and unforgettable experience.

Have a peak at Matt’s hunt with us and witness why so many hunters return year after year, they simply cannot get enough of what Africa has to offer them.
