The new series of classrooms is not the only building of importance in our school though, building positive relationships within our school community is also important, and education becomes more meaningful and effective when we establish strong links and a sense of community.
As parents, your engagement with our school is vital, and you can help your child succeed. Read more ...

From Director of School Administration
Dear CMS community,
Professional Learning is continuing as always as staff at CMS, like the children, are on a learning journey. Staff take responsibility for their own learning which aligns to individual professional and school goals. There is a very big focus on Professional Learning this Term as staff are comfortable with goals and now seeking ways to find the support required to attain the goals. There are many courses and workshops available hosted by various providers which meet the needs of the learning goals. We are happy to sponsor staff members to attend the Montessori Whole School Refresher in Sydney over the Queen’s Birthday weekend and also provide in-house workshops for those of us not attending.
We are extremely fortunate to welcome Polli Soholt to CMS this week. Polli is an extremely experienced Montessori teacher and Montessori trainer for the new Bay Area MNW Satellite Training Course in San Francisco, California. She is also an AMI-USA consultant, and has contributed to the NAMTA Journal and the AMI-USA newsletter on several occasions. Polli will work with our Cycle 1 staff over the next two weeks to support Professional Learning and consult with staff on classroom practice.
Polli has also offered parent workshops appropriate for Cycle 1 parents and carers:
- Please come along on Friday 13th May from 9:00am to 10:30am for a talk on ‘How do Montessori principles apply to the home environment?’
- You are also welcome to attend on Wednesday 18th May from 9:00am to 10:30am when the theme is: ‘The development of self-discipline.’
I know these workshops will be extremely popular and well worth your taking the time to attend.
Hope to see you here,
Áine Barker

From the Board Members
Dear CMS Community,
After electing new members at the AGM in March, Board members have been busy settling into their sub-committees and setting work plans for the year. By creating annual work plans for each sub-committee and one for the Board as a whole, we:
- Help to ensure that we meet our regulatory requirements as a School,
- Try and spread the Board’s work out over the year so that it’s not overly burdensome for Board members at any one time, and
- Ensure that we don’t forget anything!
How are your Board members representing you at CMS? Read more ...
