The purpose of the committee is to design, organize, and implement a work plan in order to ensure a successful, transparent event; inclusive of the voice of the Dawson City Chamber of Commerce’s stakeholders and community members.

This trade show would not be possible without the dedication and vision of volunteers and community members.

Annual Industry Conference:

The Procurement Support Centre and Highways and Public Works (HPW) will be hosting the first annual conference February 17 & 18, 2015. The intent of this conference is for the Yukon Government and industry to be able to meet and have an open dialogue on past and future projects, outline roles and responsibilities, understand industry perspectives and discuss other topics of interest that have come up the past couple of years.

To register for the conference click here.  This conference is being held at the Coast High Country Inn in Whitehorse.

BBBS Dawson is looking for support from local businesses to sponsor the program. How? If an employee is interested in participating in the program, your business can sponsor them by releasing them for one paid hour to meet with their mentee. In this way, we have more available mentors during school or after school times. Your business would be thanked and mentioned across any events or postings BBBS does in Dawson.

In partnership with the Robert Service School, School Council and Tr’ondek Hwëch'in Education, the Big Brothers Big Sisters program continues this 2014-2015 school year! We continue to look for dedicated volunteers to serve as Mentors for school-aged Mentees. Mentors must be aged 18 or older.
The program aims to:

  • Provide a role model and friend
  • Promote healthy relationships with friends and family
  • Build trust and self-confidence to support healthy decisions, such as staying in school
  • Encourage independent thinking and leadership skills
  • Have fun!
The two types of programs are in-school mentorship (1x/week during school for an hour) or community mentorship (after school or on weekends, 2-3x/month).

If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact the Mentorship Coordinator at bbbsydawson@gmail.com or RSS at 867-993-5435
Thanks for your support, Dawson!
