The annual Dawson City International Gold Show for 2015 is upon us and we are excited to launch a new website in time for it. Registration is now open and can be done online! As Northern Canada’s largest placer mining and consumer trade show, this event highlights the importance of mining in our economic growth, gold-rush heritage and culture in the Klondike. We strive to bring new and relevant speakers to the Gold Show and invite you to keep checking back for updated information. Members' Luncheon Meeting

Our next Members' Luncheon Meeting will be held on March 11, 2015 at the Downtown Hotel from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m.. This month our presenters will be talking on the Canada Job Grant and Air North services for the summer. Watch for the posters around town for more information.

Canada Job Grant

This program supports employers interested in investing in training for current or future employees. Training may be offered by colleges, trade union centres or private trainers. Training can take place in a classroom, a workplace or online. Costs are shared by the employer and Advanced Education.

Yukon Summer Career Placement

Yukon Summer Career Placement program is a Government of Yukon initiative that provides wage subsidies  to employers who create summer job opportunities for students and youth while focusing on local priorities. Jobs range from 6 to 16 weeks in length with a minimum of 30 hours per week. The period of employment must occur between May 1 and September 1, 2015.

Yukon Businesses: Support the Recycling Efforts of Yukon's Youth

The Recycling Club is looking for suppliers to register a proposed prize for the program for this coming year. If your business is chosen as a supplier, it will be featured in the Recycling Club prize catalogue and you will receive exposure to hundreds of homes and many potential new customers. Employment Standards has made the following announcement  about a minimum wage increase scheduled for April 1, 2015:

On behalf of the Director of Employment Standards for the Yukon, Micheal Noseworthy, please note the following changes to MW and FWS for Yukon.

Please take notice that effective April 1, 2015, the minimum wage rate for Yukon increases from $10.72 to $10.86 per hour.

The minimum wage in Yukon is adjusted to reflect the previous calendar years’ Consumer Price Index every year on April 1st. The increase for the year ending 2014 is 1.3%.

Please take notice that effective April 1, 2015, Yukon’s Fair Wage Schedule has changed

The Fair Wage Schedule sets the wage rates (by category, class and job title) that can be paid to persons working on a contract for a public work of the Yukon. Annual adjustments to the Fair Wage Schedule come into effect every year on April 1st, and are based on the previous year's Consumer Price Index (CPI). These adjustments must be paid to all employees working on existing and upcoming construction contracts with the government.

Ministers to Attend Annual Mining Convention in Toronto

Economic Development Minister Stacey Hassard and Energy, Mines & Resources Minister Scott Kent are promoting the territory's mineral sector opportunities at the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada convention in Toronto. Full article here.


  • GoldRush Campground is seeking the support of community members in an effort to extend the property lease and ensure continued operation of the campground at its present location in Dawson City.   • Chaofeng Zhang, an independent business consultant specializing in investment with China, is looking for placer gold properties for her clientele. Ms. Zhang was a Senior Business Development Advisor with Yukon Department of Economic Development until last October, responsible for promoting Yukon's mining investment advantages to Asia, in particular, China. Prior to joining EcDev, she had been working for Canadian Embassy in China for over 10 years, promoting trade and investment relations between Canada and China.  She has an extensive network of mining investors from both mainland China and Canada.  She can be reached at or 867-332-1187.
