Newsletter for the week of February 8th-12th 2016

Members' Luncheon this Wednesday!

The DCCC Members' Luncheon will take place this Wednesday, February 10th from noon-1pm at the Downtown Hotel conference room.

These monthly events are a great opportunity to network with other local businesses, share what your company has been up to and to enjoy a presentation from our rotating guests.

Our guests this month will be from Sunlife Financials - the folks who offer the Chamber Insurance Plan. This will be a great opportunity to learn about the plan, ask questions and provide feedback.

Is there a presenter you'd like to hear from at future luncheons? Feel free to give the chamber office a call/email if you have any recommendations.

Dawson City Chamber of Commerce members are welcome to come to the chamber office to view the arrival of dogsled teams (we've got an excellent view!) on Thursday and Friday, 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm.

The following is a statement from Kluane Freight Lines regarding the most recent adjusted fuel surcharge:

In an industry-leading decision, Kluane Freight Lines is reducing fuel surcharges to their customers by a fifth from 25 percent to 20 percent, in keeping with savings they themselves are receiving. Due to current economic conditions, the company’s fuel costs are being significantly reduced. As a measure of good faith, Kluane Freight Lines is passing on the largest reduction they can to their customers across the Yukon.
By reducing costs for their customers, the company hopes to have a direct impact on the local community—one they will be able to see in their wallets immediately. “We are committed to increasing the value of our company in the North,” says Len Williams General Manager of Kluane Freight Lines. “We feel that passing on our savings to our customers is just one more way of doing it.”
Kluane Freight Lines will also be continuing daily delivery service between Whitehorse and Dawson into the coming year—another way the company aims to increase the ease of transportation across Yukon’s north.
The adjusted Fuel Surcharge will be effective Wednesday February 03, 2016.
