But Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it and said, "Truly you are a bridegroom of blood to me!"
Exodus 4:25

Moses was on his way back to Egypt to confront Pharaoh. Along the way he came under threat. God was on the verge of killing him one night – which I cannot explain. But Zipporah, his wife, was undaunted and stepped in to help Moses. She performed a sacrament. The circumcision of her son and an odd blessing for her husband changed the dynamic that night. Liberation includes such sacramental moments.
