Dear Paul
Christian Relief Uganda (CRU)

Ugandan Experience August 12th - 27th 2015

Twelve intrepid explorers flew to Uganda some with great expectations others with a blank screen.

Emma Glass, Anne Doggart, Matt Kirk, Lyn Holmes, Rhona Marshall, Julie Parker, Kim Harewood, Susan Clayton, Marion Tugwood, Rachel Tugwood and  Rachel Bradley.
We all had amazing experiences that changed our lives.
We met some of the young people who we have been sponsoring. Judith & Gertrude, Moses Katagwa, Denis who got married on Saturday Sept 12th Emmanuel & his brother Eric, who needs sponsoring next year to do an Agriculture & Poultry course.

Once we settled in Kamuli we visited the Mission Hospital where the team distributed baby clothes to the ladies in the Maternity Ward and bags of pills, medical gloves & plasters to the pharmaceutical department.

Our Holiday Club went really well with 130 children having a great time as well as all the teachers and staff who helped. Emma made a plan of action. Marion started the day by telling the Bible story, then she led a team of children along with Kim, Emma and Rachel Tugwood.

Rachel Bradley & Anne helped the children make a boat & do the crafts.

Lyn ran the parachute games.

Matt organised the football and netball games.

Julie taught the children to play the recorder and sing.

Susan organised the staff to paint the Main Office, God’s Miracle, the Clinic and gate man’s little hut.

Head Dan Muyiira and Deputy Fred Gumasi in painted office.

In the afternoon we visited the stream where people from the village go to collect water in a jerry can. The group found this fascinating. Later donations from the UK were given out.

The children followed us back and enjoyed having photos taken with Julie and Rachel.
We visited Joyce on behalf of a friend in Bristol and gave her goods to sell on her newly built stall. When the group looked inside her house they bought a bed, mattress & bedding for the three people living there.
This was all done in two hours. This gave the team an idea of how the rural people in Kamuli live and we were able to make a difference. We hope these three people can now have a good  night’s sleep.
At the end of the Holiday Club we had lots of fun. We sang, ate party food, played with balloons and loom bands, then we gave out certificates and everyone received a gift. Everyone had a fantastic time.
These quotes have been sent since we returned from an amazing trip to Uganda:

One member of the team said, "Faithlessly, I did not anticipate the flood of agape, Gods love, which consumed each and every friendship between all 12 travellers and Ugandan to buzungu (a group of white people). A small taste of heaven on earth. Mulungi! Beautiful......... God's love rules, Jesus frees to love, God is love. Amen."

Another team member said, "A trip never to be forgotten. I ponder now about all the aspects of the trip. To be embraced by Ugandan children who instantly borrowed my heart, filled it with compassion and a joy only experienced at the birth of my own kids.
The preciousness of life itself. The dialogue expressed through eye contact with these children refreshed areas of my soul long forgotten.
I have used my own skills, my own personality and have felt my own emotions on this trip.
I return with aspirations, hope and a greater understanding of how to make a difference. It starts with me.
This has been by far one of the best experiences of my life!!! God chose 12 virtual strangers to spend 2 weeks in Uganda together to become soul mates and lifelong friends. We have seen and experienced far too much to ever be able to adequately convey here. But to say we have each laughed, cried, comforted, shared, played and prayed: given, received, sang, ran a Holiday club, learned, journeyed, giggled and hugged. Were bitten, exhausted, but unimaginably blessed, is just to scratch the surface!!!"
