SJTPO requests public input for its Draft Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2022-2031 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Transportation Conformity documents. The comment period is open from Wednesday, July 7, 2021 through Monday, August 9, 2021.
The SJTPO TIP includes State and local highway projects as well as regional, statewide, and transit programs. Over $1.3 Billion of FFY 2022-2031 Federal and State funding is identified for transportation improvements within the four counties, in addition to participation in the statewide programs.
This TIP introduces new projects and updates the schedules, costs, and funding for projects in the previous TIP.
Transportation Conformity is a process required by the Clean Air Act (CAA) for non-attainment areas linking transportation planning to air quality standards. The goal of transportation conformity is to ensure that mobile source emissions generated from future Federally-funded projects and programs conform to specific emission levels as established in the State Implementation Plan (SIP)
, the air quality plan for the State.
During the comment period, members of the public may also consider submitting comments for the Draft Statewide TIP, also known as the STIP
. The STIP includes the transportation projects from the SJTPO region as well as projects from the two additional New Jersey MPOs – the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) and North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA).
The SJTPO Draft TIP, Transportation Conformity, and STIP are available for viewing on the TIP webpage
and Public Comment webpage
. Physical copies of the Draft TIP and Transportation Conformity are available for examination at participating State Depository Libraries
in the region.
