The Thomas Merton Contemplative Initiative

DECEMBER 10, 2020

The Feast of Thomas Merton, Prophet and Spiritual Master
Here is Dr. Danny Martin's rich and poetic salutation to mark the feast of the passing of Thomas Merton:
a meditation on the mystery of death and how Merton illuminates it for us.
As our gifted guide in the "Mindfulness Dialogue" process he has designed, Danny Martin will be regularly opening us to Merton-inspired reflections on the world we live in today.  Be en-couraged and inspired by Danny's own poetic voice in dialogue with Merton's in these spoken word offerings.

We look forward to opportunities to engage face-to-face as a mindfulness dialogue community in virtual on-line circles which Dr. Martin will convene from time to time.  Stay tuned.

For now, let his new seeds of insight fall into our open minds,  our receptive hearts.

Thomas Merton, pray for us.

Thomas Merton, one of the great spiritual voices of the modern age, has a special place in the
Kathleen Deignan, CND Institute for Earth and Spirit.
Through the portal of the Merton Contemplative Initiative begun in 2000, we hope to explore the most challenging concerns of our moment, as he did: confronting racism and systems of violence, reaching toward the wisdom of indigenous peoples and poets, minding "the marginals," recovering "the Paradise mind," dialoguing with many faiths, and speaking truth to power.
Dr. Danny Martin is an engaging master in "The Art of Working With Life."  A personal guide, professional coach, organization consultant, community facilitator, inspirational speaker and poet, Danny is one of the founding Conveners of the Berry Forum.  He will now be a regular contributor to the Merton Contemplative Initiative to bring his skill and insight to the challenges of contemporary life.
