|In this long-treasured season of Advent, we are invited to rekindle hope and anticipation for the New World of Christ's birthing. We gather in the dark, by candle-light and enter into intercession for and dedication to Our Living Mother, Our Living Earth.
As one commune of Creation, abiding in one Common Home, we advocate for all our relations. May our monthly work of praise on these Earth Sabbaths deepen us in the spirituality and prophecy of Laudato si - Pope Francis' call to become a Church of and for Creation.
In the opening mass for Advent, Pope Francis offered this wisdom for the season:
"When Jesus points out the dangers to the faith, he is not concerned about powerful enemies, hostilities or persecutions, ... they do not weaken the faith.” Instead, “the true danger is that which anesthetizes the heart: it is to depend on consumptions and to allow one’s heart to be weighed down and dissipated by needs .... time is thrown away in pastimes, but one does not have time for God or for others. When one lives for things, they are never enough." He tells us “be vigilant, and not give into the sleep that envelops us.”
Wake, awake !
