96 Falun Gong Practitioners Died in 2019 from Persecution

12 of the 96 people who died from Falun Gong persecution inside China.
Ninety-six Falun Gong practitioners in China were confirmed to have been persecuted to death for their faith in 2019, bringing the total confirmed death toll to 4,363 over the past 20 years of brutal suppression. The deceased practitioners, 53 of them female, came from all walks of life, and included doctors, college professors, factory managers, bank employees, engineers and farmers. Their ages ranged from 28 to 87, with an average age of 62.5.  Read More

In 2019, Hundreds Imprisoned and Thousands Arrested for Their Faith

At least 774 Falun Gong practitioners were confirmed to have been sentenced for their faith in 2019, according to information collected by In many of these instances, the police, procuratorates, and courts violated legal procedure at every step of the prosecution process, from fabricating evidence and witness accounts to holding secret trials and blocking appeals. Some practitioners were given their verdicts just days following their arrests. Some were tortured in custody and imprisoned despite serious medical conditions. Additionally, 6,109 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and 3,582 harassed by police for their faith. Read More

China expert Sarah Cook explains how persecution tactics used on Falun Gong are now deployed to suppress other groups in China.

Estimates by the United Nations found that more than a million Muslim residents are currently detained in internment camps, where they are tortured, “re-educated,” and forced to swear allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), in an effort to coerce them into giving up their faith.

Norwegian Library Stands Up to Chinese Censorship Pressure

Norwegian library that refused to bow to Chinese censorship pressure.

While a Chinese Olympics ski team was training at a Norwegian town, the team’s coaches and managers requested that a public library in Norway remove a book that was censored in China. The library refused, citing free speech. The book is about Falun Gong, a Chinese spiritual discipline consisting of slow-moving exercises and moral teachings.  Read More
