Professor Proposes Integrated Research & Support Network at UCLA

Johanna Drucker, a Professor in UCLA’s Department of Information Studies and the Bernard and Martin Breslauer Professor of Bibliographic Studies, is known for her work in alphabet historiography, history of the book and print culture, experimental poetry, fine art, digital humanities, and graphic design history.

In addition to her own research projects, Drucker is focused on laying the groundwork to help UCLA truly become a research powerhouse. With IDRE’s Lisa Synder, Johanna is lobbying for the establishment of an Integrated Research Infrastructure & Support Network (IRIS) for UCLA researchers.  In this interview, Drucker talks about her unique academic background, research projects, and work on IRIS. Code for the Mission

OIP and OIT announce the First Annual UCLA "Code for the Mission" App Competition. The goal of the competition is to encourage the UCLA community (faculty, staff and students) to create mobile apps that further UCLA's mission of Research, Education and Service. Team registrations due by June 27, 2014. Final entries are due August, 31 2014.

Publication: Report on the Usage of Beacon Intel Xeon Phi Cluster

The main motivation behind this investigation is to get an exposure on Intel’s Xeon architecture and to measure the performance of basic linear algebra subroutines using Intel’s MKL library. Author: Prakashan Korambath.

MMWCON - Registration is Open!

The second annual Mobility and Modern Web Conference, presented by UCLA's OIT, in association with higher ed and corporate partners, will take place September 17-19, 2014.

Research Workshop: Grant & Clinical Protocol Development 

This is an intensive workshop in clinical research grant preparation and submission, study design, protocol development, and clinical trial conduct. July 14-18, 2014 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm at UCLA Medical Center and July 21-25 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. 

IDRE Walk-in Statistical Consulting

Walk-in statistical consulting is offered Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the DCP/Stat Lab, 4919 Math Sciences. Email consulting is also available.
