Stats Consulting Group Lends Expertise to Campus Researchers
Statistical analysis conducted by the Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE)’s Statistical Consulting Group aided UCLA School of Dentistry faculty member Dr. R. Christian Solem’s latest study that was published on the cover of the August 2016 issue of the American Journal of Orthodontics.
IDRE statistical consultant Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie was a co-author of the study titled “Congenital and acquired mandibular asymmetry: Mapping growth and remodeling in 3 dimensions,” which involved a novel method of measurement that called for a more unconventional form of statistical analysis. Chris Rico Director of Innovation for Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC)
In his role as Director of Innovation for the LAEDC, Chris Rico leads the continued development of an innovation program for LA County, where he will build broad external support and provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the mission of the Innovate LA program, as well as its goals and priorities. Chris manages the day-to-day operations, programs and initiatives of the Innovate LA Program, including LA Innovation Week, the Blackstone LaunchPad Program in support of Southern California’s entrepreneurial economy, and all of the external communications, marketing and social media for Innovate LA. Chris will also be charged with developing new initiatives and approaches within the Innovate LA Program to increase its relevance, impact and influence within the broader innovation economy and business and economic development communities.

This course is for users who want to learn how to write SAS programs. It is the entry point to learning SAS programming and is a prerequisite to many other SAS courses. Learn how to, navigate the SAS Studio programming environment, navigate the SAS Enterprise Guide programming, environment, navigate the SAS windowing environment, read various types of data into SAS data sets, create SAS variables and subset data, combine SAS data sets and create and enhance listing and summary reports. This course teaches you how to process SAS data using Structured Query Language (SQL). This course can help prepare you for the following certification exam(s): SAS Advanced Programming Exam for SAS 9. Learn how to query and subset data, summarize and present data, combine tables, including complex joins and merges, create and modify table views and indexes and replace multiple DATA and PROC steps with one SQL query. The goal of the UCLA IDRE Statistical Consulting Group is to help UCLA faculty, staff, and graduate students perform top-notch research, with the greatest emphasis on data analysis related to grants and publications, but also including dissertation research. We provide advice and resources to enable you to develop and/or extend your statistical computing skills, helping you to independently use common statistical packages for the analysis of your research.
