March has simply flown by, leaving us only three more months of Preschool. Where has the time gone? I am sure we were all hoping, with March behind us, that that would have to mean Spring was on its way.

With three precious months left to our school year, we certainly have plenty of activities planned. This time of year is always a special one for all the children. It's a time of discovery, a time of revelation as we watch all the wonderful changes all around us. Enjoy this special time with your children, and take the time to point out all the exciting things that come with the change of the season.

APRIL 24th & JUNE 20th

Please check the clean-up night list located outside the classrooms to see which is your designated night. Please make sure you fulfill your volunteer duties.

Our doors are always open! Please feel free to chat with us before or after class about any concerns or questions you may have.

For more in-depth discussions, here is each teacher's contact information;

WISH LIST - Styrofoam Egg Cartons (any colour)

our theme for the month will be SAFARI. We will be exploring some of the African animals like Hippos, Elephants, Giraffes, Lions and Zebras. We are also very excited about going on our very first field trip to the Calgary Zoo.

On April 25th will going to the Calgary Zoo, we will be taking a bus and all the 3's will be leaving together in the morning from the Preschool. It will be a very exciting day and something the children talk about for weeks after. We will be needing some parent volunteers to accompany us there.

April we will be finishing up our music time with Miss Tune-ah and in May we will be looking forward to 3 dance classes with Miss Cathy.

May we will be exploring more animals. Farm animals like Cows, Horses, and Pigs! We will also be looking at what happens on a farm and the crops that a farmer would grow. We will look at the story of the Little Red Hen and just like the Little Red Hen we will get to make some bread for ourselves! Out topic finishes with a trip to Butterfield Acres on June 1st where we will get to see some of the cute farm animals that we have talked about. Transportation is not provided for this trip so children must be dropped off and picked up from Butterfield Acres that day.  We will be looking for 5-6 volunteers for this field trip.

On May 11th at 1030am and 230pm we will be holding a very special event in our classrooms, our Mother's Day Tea. This is always a very exciting time for the children and a chance for them to "spoil" the special lady in their life. The children will be making a delicious snack to be served and will also be presenting a special gift. We will be singing a couple of songs especially for her as well. Grandmas/aunties are welcome to attend if mom can not make it. We ask that there is ONE GUEST PER CHILD, DUE TO LIMITED CLASSROOM SPACE.

the children will be going "Under the Sea" and learning about some of the creatures we find swimming and living in the sea. We are looking forward to completing a special project with the Clay Lady on Friday, April 21st related to our theme. The children will be finishing off the theme with a BEACH DAY on Wednesday, April 26th and will each need to bring a clean, small jam jar or small baby food jar with a lid and the label removed, on the day as we will be making our own aquariums. Please also wear your favourite beach clothes and bring your beach towel.

May the children will be celebrating Mother's Day and Bugs this month. We will be holding our Mother's Day Tea in the classrooms on Friday, May 12th at 1030am and 230pm. The children will be preparing a special snack, serving their guest and providing the entertainment. It definitely is a must see event so grandmas/aunties are welcome to attend if mom is not available to come. ONE GUEST PER CHILD PLEASE, DUE TO SPACE.

On Monday, May 15th the children will be going on a field trip to Safety City, so please be sure to wear your blue field trip shirts. More information on this field trip will be available closer to the date.

The children will be continuing with their Jolly Phonics this month as we finish off the alphabet and continue to practice our sounds and building small words. Some of us are getting really good at this. Thanks to those of you who are remembering to practice at home too as it definitely shows when we do activities at school.

  1. We would like to remind parents that all outdoor footwear be removed at the gymnasium doors. If outdoor footwear is not removed, the corridors and classroom areas do get wet and then those who have removed their footwear are getting wet/dirty feet. Your co-operation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Your child must wear indoor shoes at all times, no slippers please.
  3. Please park in the designated parking areas. No drop offs in the NO PARKING ZONE.
  4. Please pick up your child promptly at dismissal to avoid tears.
  5. We do not allow your child to bring toys or other items from home, except on their "Sharing Day" It is difficult to keep track of these items and we want to avoid the tears associated with a lost or broken toy.
  6. Don't forget to collect your children's artwork off the floor outside the classroom at the end of each day.

Room Parents

The best way to stay in touch with the happenings of your child's classroom is to contact your room parent. Please also contact your room parent with questions about volunteering duties & general comments or concerns. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OUR ROOM PARENTS, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WOULD DO WITHOUT YOU!!!
