DOE Update on Fall Learning Options

Dr. Elster wants to forward to the MS54 community the following letter from DOE Chancellor Richard Carranza that provides answers to some important questions about who teaches kids who choose to go 100% remote.

Dear Principals,

I hope you are staying safe and healthy. I know you are working tremendously hard to prepare for the new school year in still-uncertain circumstances, and I want to thank you again for your dedication and commitment.

We have asked families to notify us by Friday, August 7 if they intend to choose all-remote learning for the upcoming school year. Attached you will find a letter for your families sharing more information about both remote and blended learning options so they are better empowered to make that decision. Please share this letter with your school communities as soon as possible. Translations will be available shortly on the InfoHub.

Please note that you will receive information about how the families in your school have responded by Monday, August 10.

Thank you for your support in maintaining communication and transparency with families, alongside all the other critical work you do in service of our students.

In unity,
