Construction on 108th Street

Ad Hoc Task Force Needs Volunteers

With the possibility of a major construction project across the street from MS54, it is important that our community have our voices heard by all the parties involved.

At the CB7 Community Board hearing this past Wednesday, it was apparent that the concerns of the school community were not being taken into consideration adequately. To that end, we are forming an ad hoc task force to gather information and ensure our voices are heard on this important issue.

It is important that we get parent involvement as soon as possible to ensure our children's health and safety are not adversely affected by this project.

If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Alix Botwin-Krell at or fill out this short form.

In addition, we would like to appoint a Community Affairs Liaison to the Executive Board. This person (or persons) would report to the board on community issues affecting our school. Please email or fill out this short form if you are interested in this position.

At MS54, It's Not Just the Students That Are Bright

We are in the process of having all of the lights replaced in our hallways and classrooms as part of the DOE's PCB-remediation plan. Our school was identified as a school whose lights potentially contained PCB ballasts.

As the project moves towards completion, your children will notice much brighter hallways and classrooms.

FREE 🚲 Youth Summer Ride Club  🚲

This FREE program will run every Saturday from July 16 to August 27, 2016. The group will meet at 10:00 AM at the assigned Bike New York Education Center (Van Cortlandt Park or Flushing Meadows Corona Park). Each week, participants will go on progressively more challenging rides to explore their borough and beyond, culminating in an epic final ride designed by their Bike Education Youth Instructors based on the group's ability and interests.
This is open to young people ages 13 to 19 who have completed at least one semester of Bike New York Youth Programs (i.e., After-School Fall 2015, Summer Camp 2015, or After-School Spring 2016).
