Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,
I look forward to seeing you at Tuesday evening’s Spring Music Concert. The concert begins at 6:00 PM. These students performed magnificently at the NYSSMA Competition last week. You are in for quite a treat!
Each year, the teachers have the right to vote to make changes to the way their work day is set up in their contract. On Friday, the teachers voted to make several changes, which will go into effect next year. The school day will begin at 8:40AM and end at 3:00PM every day. Early Academy will take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Early Academy, however, will be structured differently. Teachers of humanities, languages and the arts will be seeing students one day and teachers of math and science the other day. Individual teachers will talk about how they plan to use Early Academy during Back-To-School Night in the fall. The teachers also voted to lengthen the November and March Parent Conferences instead of having a third set in May.
June Reminders:
Please check around your house for library and books belonging to the school. All of these need to be returned before the end of the year. Teachers will tell the students when to bring the textbooks in. If you would like to donate back to the school some of the books your child read this year, please send them in with your child. The teachers are also willing to accept donations of age appropriate books for their classroom libraries.
All attendance related issues  (discrepancies) must be resolved by June 28th. If you have a concern about this, please contact Gladys Cruz at extension 1383.
When your seventh grader brings home his/her work portfolios in math, science and humanities, please save them. He/she will need to have examples of graded work for the high school admissions process.
Summer Assignments will be posted by June 17th. Please be sure that your child has books to take to camp or read over the summer.
