Good morning, parents,
There are three urgent education issues that we have been watching with growing alarm.
The DOE’s undisguised intent to use the COVID crisis to eliminate the screened schools/accelerated learning opportunities that we have all chosen for our children by sending them to Booker T.
The DOE’s ongoing lack of transparency into the SHSAT/HS/MS admissions process for this year. It is mid-November and parents and administrators have not been told anything about what the plan/process will be.
Perhaps most concerning, in spite of the low rates of positive COVID test results in schools, the Mayor has told families to prepare for a school shutdown as early as Monday.
LET’S WORK TOGETHER TO AMPLIFY OUR VOICES!!
The education advocacy team has collected email lists for relevant DOE and elected officials and drafted letter templates for each of these issues. There are also petitions that you can quickly sign + share, and a rally this afternoon at Foley Square at 2:00 PM to protest schools closing.
Please, please, choose a few (or all) of the actions below to ensure parent voices are heard!
