LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on November 17, 2016. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on that day. More information will follow. October 27th, the date the city scheduled conferences, will be a regular school day for our students.
In preparation for voter registration, this week’s Election Simulation topic was political parties. Students had an opportunity to learn about what a political party is, the history of political parties in our country and about the two different political parties – Party X and Party Y that are part of our simulation. Please note that for our simulation we are not using names of actual parties. At a later date, each of these parties will be renamed. I encourage you to continue the conversation with your child. We have many eighth graders interested in running for president, and they are busy collecting signatures. I invited Chancellor Fariña to serve as our Chief Justice at our Inauguration on November 10th, and she has agreed!
Next week our tours begin, and we will begin recruiting students for the 2017-2018 school year. As always, you – our parent body - continue to be our best recruiters. I appreciate the conversations you have about the school with your friends and neighbors. We will have an Open House on November 22nd. Please encourage them to come see the school.
Last week Ms. Kricorian’s eighth grade art classes went to The New Museum to see an exhibit entitled “The Keeper.” “The Keeper” is an exhibition dedicated to the act of preserving objects, artworks, and images. Next Friday, the entire sixth grade will go to the Museum of Natural History.
