‘If You Can Make It There…’
Theme from ‘New York, New York’ Kander and Ebb

Radio New Zealand has won one gold and two silver awards against strong international competition at the prestigious New York Festival Radio Awards announced in New York on 23 June. Radio New Zealand Concert’s International Arts Festival Concert Series was awarded a gold for Best Live Sound in the Craft category.
 
The series, engineered by Graham Kennedy and Darryl Stack, included three concerts recorded at the New Zealand Festival in 2014 one of these being the world premiere of Ross Harris/Vincent O’Sullivan’s ‘Requiem for the Fallen’ performed in Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on 28 February featuring Richard Greager, Horomona Horo, Voices NZ Chamber Choir and the New Zealand String Quartet with conductor Karen Grylls.

Fauré Requiem By Candlelight

On Monday, 6 July in Music Alive at 8pm Radio NZ Concert will be broadcasting ‘Fauré Requiem by Candlelight’ recorded at the concert in Wellington Cathedral on Saturday, 7 June 2014. The programme includes the Duruflé and Fauré Requiems with Jayne Tankersley soprano, Bianca Andrew mezzo soprano, Christopher Hillier baritone and Michael Stewart organ with Voices NZ Chamber Choir and Orchestra Wellington conducted by Karen Grylls.
