A new concert series for VOICES

Welcome to the first edition of FINE TUNE for 2017. We hope you have had a lovely start to the New Year.
We are thrilled to announce a very exciting and new offering to you this year; Voices NZ Chamber Choir will perform four different concert programmes in different locations around the country.
From the immersive surround sound experience that is Jack Body’s PASSIO at the Auckland Arts Festival and a celebration of the glory of BAROQUE VOICES, to the remembrance of war in THE UNUSUAL SILENCE and the welcoming of spring in SALUT PRINTEMPS, these Voices performances will move and delight the soul. Featuring inspiring New Zealand composers and the world premiere of a new commission, delightful French music and some famous Baroque classics in a concert with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra – there’s something for everyone.
VOICES can be seen live in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and beyond.

You can also catch up with the new New Zealand Youth Choir (NZYC) when it performs in cities and towns near you. NZYC will be performing at venues in the Kapiti Coast, Featherston, Waiheke Island, Auckland and Wellington.

PASSIO - a musical treasure unearthed

This March, VOICES join the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and Madeleine Pierard at the Auckland Arts Festival in PASSIO. This fantastic re-contextualisation of Richard Davy’s early-Renaissance Passion according to St Matthew melds ancient with modern in an immersive, rare musical experience. Conceived by late New Zealand composer Jack Body, PASSIO is the result of a collaboration by six of New Zealand’s finest composers; Ross Harris, David Farquhar, Lissa Meridan, Michael Norris and Dame Gillian Whitehead. This work invokes the past – the voices – amidst a dynamic instrumental present – the orchestra’s brass section. Come seize the moment, wander through the performance area or sit if you prefer, and discover this musical treasure, PASSIO.
