The year in review

As 2016 draws to a close, we take this opportunity to thank all of our partners, donors and friends. Your support has allowed us to make a real difference to the lives of survivors of family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea.

Our annual report for 2015-16 is now available online, read the highlights here or download the full report here.

Papua New Guinea news

Stella Magazine

Femili PNG is proud to feature in the current issue of Stella, a lifestyle magazine published in PNG that celebrates and connects indigenous people. Get your copy of the magazine to read Ashlee Betteridge’s account of how Femili PNG is empowering survivors to access justice and move forward. Check here to see if there’s a stockist near you or download the app from the Stella website.

Trukai Industries

Over the past few months we have been working closely with Trukai Industries in Lae. In November we headed out to Trukai Industries’ farm at Erap in the Markham Valley to raise awareness on family and sexual violence among Trukai staff. Read the story here. Trukai Industries now also supports Femili PNG and our clients by providing rice to women and children in emergency accommodation. Thank you Trukai!

Outreach

Femili PNG is supported by our sister organisation in Canberra, Friends of Femili PNG. Friends of Femili PNG has the following events coming up in early 2017.

In February 2017, two of our case work staff will be in Australia on a learning and exchange visit hosted by Canberra’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service. Come along to A Bite to Eat in Chifley on Friday 24 February, and hear directly from our Papua New Guinean staff regarding the challenges and rewards of working for an organisation like Femili PNG. Run for Femili PNG

Femili PNG will be fielding a team in the Canberra Times’ annual Canberra Marathon on April 8 and 9 2017. The event is suitable for people of all ages and abilities with a choice of courses ranging from 5 to 50 kilometres. See our website here for more information on joining the Femili PNG team.

What else can I do?

Femili PNG is here for the long term and to ensure our sustainability, we need financial support from people like you. The most valuable thing you can do for us is to set up a recurring donation to Femili PNG. Recurring donations allow us to plan for the future and are tax-deductible in both Australia and Papua New Guinea. Visit our donate page now to set up your monthly, quarterly or annual donation to Femili PNG. Please feel free to contact us on info@femilipng.org if you need any assistance.

From everyone at Femili PNG, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
