APOST Virtual Back to Out-of-School Time Conference  


Registration for the APOST Virtual Back to Out-of-School Time Conference will be open next week! Join us the last week of August and the first couple weeks of September for over 12 professional development workshops all designed to help youth workers in Out-of-School Time prepare high quality programming for youth as we gear up for this Fall and begin to approach a new normal. 

Next week, we’ll a provide link to the agenda so you can view and choose the workshops you’d like to attend. You can find it here in our newsletter, on our website or on our Facebook, so stay on the lookout! We’ll have walkthroughs of great new tools and resources from trusted organizations, a doctor from UPMC Children’s Hospital who specializes in coronavirus, firsthand experience from providers already conducting virtual programming and much more! We hope to see you all soon. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer!      


Community Learning Hubs and Virtual Programs

We are happy to announce a new funding opportunity available to support in-person Community Learning Hubs and Virtual Programs. APOST/United Way is partnering with Allegheny County Department of Human Services and Trying Together to support your work and families during the global pandemic. Please carefully review the requirements and consider submitting an online application at this link if it is the right fit for your program.  

The application deadline is Friday, August 14th. 


Family Care and Education Forum

Trying Together has launched the Family Care and Education Forum for parents, caregivers, babysitters, tutors and educators. The forum provides a space to connect and discuss care and education options as we approach a very unique school year. Parents and caregivers can support each other in making well-informed decisions about their child’s learning experiences this fall and beyond. 


Teaching Tolerance: Grants that educate youth to thrive in a diverse democracy. Deadline: Rolling
Book Bank: New and donated books and resources. Deadline: Rolling. 
Pittsburgh Foundation: is establishing an emergency action fund for nonprofits. More info to come as they release details. Deadline: TBD
Emergency Fund for Artists: potential $500 support from GPAC for artists at a loss of income due to coronavirus. More emergency arts funding resources here. Deadline: Rolling
Peace First: $250 grants to youth 13-25 for projects developed to address community response to COIVD-19. Deadline: Rolling
Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Artist and Administration Support Small Grants: $250 grants. Deadline: Ongoing 
Youth-Led COVID-19 Human Services Initiative Grants: $2,500-$10,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing 
Trans Community Support During COVID Crisis Grants: Up to $10,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing
Girls and Gender Expansive Youth of Color Support Grants: Up to $25,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing
Social Justice Grassroots Organization Support During COVID Crisis Grants: About $1,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing
