The 4th round of the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships is to be held on Beautiful Lake Macquarie in NSW on the 15th and 16th of October, only 90 minutes from Sydney. This makes it the closest race to Sydney in the entire Series and it is shaping up to be the most exciting one yet. It is to be held at the Northern End of Lake Macquarie between Warners Bay and Marmong Point.
Marmong Point Marina will be the centre of all of the action over the weekend with the boats being showcased there from Friday afternoon the 14th of October till Monday Morning the 17th of October. So come on down to Marmong point Marina to meet the Drivers and have a look at the Offshore Race boats up close.
The boats will be craned into the water from 11am Saturday morning for the Pole Position Shootout which starts at 1pm, with all the boats lifted out again after the shootout. Sunday the boats will be craned into the water from 9am for the first race at 11am. A HUGE thankyou to Wilson Lift for supplying the cranes for the Weekend.
Dantia have been instrumental in obtaining the funding for the Race from Destination NSW and NSW Roads & Maritime Services are also a great supporter of this event for the people of NSW.
This event would not have happened except for the passion and excitement of the people at Marmong Point Marina, especially Les Binkin who has gone out of his way to make this event a possibility.
I remember the first time we discussed this Les said "We need this event for Lake Macquarie and Warners Bay - to put our town on the map of great Events and for the people of the area to come and watch such a spectacular free event. The Event will be a huge boost to tourism for Lake Macquarie and Warners Bay” - Les has made this event happen.
Les has given over his Marina for the weekend as the Home of the Superboats. The Offshore Committee and all the Racers and Officials would like to thank Marmong point Marina and Les for all of the support for our Series in Lake Macquarie.
