LSP Director Matt Angle on Congressman Kenny Marchant's Announced Retirement

"It's no surprise that Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24, Carrollton) has announced his retirement. Expect more from Republicans in both the congressional delegation and the state legislature.

"Donald Trump with help from John Cornyn and Ted Cruz in Washington, along with Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick in Texas, has taken the Republican party to a very dark place.

"Republican officials and candidates are forced to defend a party that accommodates overt racists within its ranks and incites racial division. Members of Congress like Kenny Marchant were perfectly willing to quietly cast votes promoting this horrible agenda, but can't stomach that it's now being exposed and they're being forced to defend it."
