Today Dan Patrick announced his intentions to seek reelection, Lone Star Project Director Matt Angle released the following statement:

“Dan Patrick’s statement is more a threat against Texans than an announcement of his plans.  Patrick spent his first two years as Lt. Governor pitting one Texan against another while undermining economic growth and opportunity.  When he was elected Lt. Governor the Texas economy was one of the strongest in the country but under his watch, our state has fallen to 21st.

“While Patrick let our economy slump and threatened the economic future of all Texans, he shamefully ignored a crisis at Texas Child Protective Services and innocent children have died.  Patrick has honed self-promotion and hateful rhetoric to the sharpest edge, but when it comes to strong public schools, good jobs with good pay, or representing the state of Texas with dignity and honor, he can’t cut it at all.

Matt Angle is founder and director of the Lone Star Project, a Texas Democratic political research and strategic communications PAC.
