Neighborhood Character Plans

This spring, residents from across San Marcos have been sharing their ideas at workshops, community events and online about how they’d like to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods.  Below is a chart representing the number of comments received through all different media types per Neighborhood Area.

Comments By Study Area

Neighborhood Character Plans give residents the opportunity to have a proactive role in applying the policies from the City's Comprehensive Plan Vision San Marcos in their Neighborhood. During the Outreach efforts this Spring we focused on three distinct aspects of the Comprehensive Plan that are important to neighborhoods including:
  1. Neighborhoods and Housing/ Land Use
  2. Transportation
  3. Parks and Public Facilities
The chart below categorizes the public comments received by topic and reveal which aspects of the Comprehensive Plan are most relevant to each Neighborhood Area
The process for creating Neighborhood Character Plans is tailored to each neighborhood area but generally follows the timeline below.  We have just concluded the Visioning and Listening Phase of the project and have begun the process of Synthesizing and Analyzing the input received.  To find out more about Neighborhood Planning in San Marcos click here to go to the website
