The public draft of the new land development code was released for comment on May 27, 2016.  Since that time we have:
  • Received over 1,000 comments on the draft code through Open Comment and reviewed those comments with the Think Tank;
  • Reviewed a comparative model of the current and proposed code with the Think Tank
  • Hosted a public open house and survey, where we gathered input on the draft code;
  • Held a City Council Workshop and panel discussion exploring some of the challenges and solutions for housing and affordability in San Marcos, and;
  • Tested the code by running potential projects through the current and proposed code - "Hacking the Code"
The public review phase of Code SMTX has provided valuable feedback to improve the code and shape the next steps to produce a revised draft.
