Happy November! I hope this note finds you doing well. It looks like travel during the holidays will not be a wise option since the number of cases of COVID are increasing nationwide and it's also the peak of the flu season. Sheltering in place is still the healthiest thing to do to. I just read that 100k in the United States tested postive today. While we are all stuck at home I think it is a great time to slow down and pause. I saw this article on The Yoga International website that highlights a few tips for surviving the holiday season. TIP #5 - PAUSES "The important point is to create small spaces of time in your day to stop the cycle of stress and hit the reset button, rather than continuing to run endlessly on the hamster wheel of tasks and commitments." The article is here
* This article is from a few years ago but it is still has some relevance.
I remember during my youth how much I loved the holidays and seeing family. I always enjoyed all of the delicious SOUL FOOD meals from my granny's and aunties. By the way here are the pumpkin oatmeal cookies ( from Trader Joe’s) I made.
I ate them with Vegan Ice Cream( not pictured) Vegan Coconut whipped cream and Choclate syrup. Just over here adding sweetness to my life YALL!
I'm slated to make a pumpkin pie this evening.
At some point this month I also would like to make some vegan persimmon nog soon as well : )
There is one more incident about sweetness that happened to me this week. A dear friend offered a special online series for Black Women and the tarot card that was pulled for me focused a lot on sweetness and honey.
I’m on a roll!!!!
I'm offering a special

Yoga + Meditation with other people of color can be a great way to dissolve stress from an overwhelming year. 2020 has been filled with so much overwhelm and uncertainty and has colored our collective experience with grief, hopelessness, depression and anxiety. I’ve been hosting Holiday gatherings with food for at least a decade in Washington DC, Philadelphia,PA and now California. Well we all know that ain’t gna happen this year and I’m pretty sad about this since I’m a domestic goddess who loves to nourish people with good company and good food. ( I attribute this to my Venus Cancer placement....)

I'll do what I can to spark the spirit of Holiday Joy despite the state of this country/world. I holler with deep belly laughs every time I see this clip of a 1991 episode of A Different World. Patti Labell is also a Gemini sun sign like me and I've admired her celebrity since I was very young. She is a living legend! Anywhooo.. she plays the mother of Dwayne Wayne in the sitcom and Diahnn Carroll ( RIP) another Black Hollywood legend plays Whitley Gilbert's mom. Dwayne and Whitley are college sweethearts that later wed and the 2 mother in laws really can't stand each other. This Thanksgiving episode is hilarious. They are both taking up a lot of space in the kitchen preparing the holiday meal : )
Patti Labelle + Diahnn Carroll Thanksgiving Episode of A Different World ( 1991)
After all these years I still howl at this clip. If you can find all the episodes of this show where they make a cameo its worth it. Oh how they tickle me so!!! Check out the clip of them in the kitchen preparing the holiday meal here
Take good care... wear a mask, continue to social distance and REST!
Can’t wait to see you ....
