Sony sensor has 0.005 lux sensitivity

Sony has designed a CMOS image sensor able to capture high quality images at extremely low illumination levels. Designed for use in automative cameras, the sensor can capture 1.3MP images in the dark of night. Automotive cameras must be able to identify as much data as possible in a wide range of conditions, which is why ultra-high sensitivity sensors are vital components. The sensor boasts a Wide Dynamic Range system for extended exposure time, improved sensitivity to near infrared light, and an 72dB gain amplifier. Sampling of the sensor begins in November with mass production in Dec 2015. Read More >

Dragon and XT in big-budget films

Video Camera

Digital’s uptake in the industry has produced some stunning results, with the high end Red and ARRI cameras seeing a rise in popularity this year. The 6K RED EPIC Dragon was recently used to shoot the critically acclaimed film Gone Girl. The Hunger Games has also switched from 35 and 65mm film to digital, with the ARRI ALEXA XT used for the two Mockingjay films in the series. Rocket offers both these cameras at affordable rates, so you can use them in your next production to create cinema quality images. Give Dave or Mo a call and we’ll tailor something specific to your needs, including a range of lenses and accessories.

Create stunning images

The new ALEXA XT delivers ARRIRAW recording, internal ND filtration, a 4:3 Super 35 sensor, and LDS PL mount. Features that expand on the benefits that have already made ALEXA cameras an extraordinary success.

6K RED DRAGON® sensor delivers 9x more pixels than HD. Unrivaled detail and impressive native exposure that eclipses 35mm film in both latitude and image density. Industry leading specs distinguish the EPIC DRAGON as a camera for image innovation.

Ultra Primes

Ultra Prime Lenses retain their excellent image quality even at close focus across the whole Super 35 frame. The Ultra Prime Lenses are lightweight standard speed lenses that are a perfect optical match for either the XT or the Dragon.
