Cultivating connections
for women's growth and empowerment.

Illuminating Women is a safe environment to be your authentic self, to deepen relationships with other heart-mined women and to be illuminated personally and professionally.

A Note From Our Founder
Jill Nichols-Hicks

I am still elevating and vibrating above the ground since our Ignite Your Radiance Conference on March 2nd, and I am very grateful for the many women (and men) who helped make this our best conference yet. Words can not express how honored and pleased I am with the build-up from and outcome of a gifted, divine vision I had back in December of 2016, about bringing women together in conference for personal and professional growth. To have other people see the vision, believe in it and me, and invest their time, energy, and money, then up level, the goals that came out of the vision further validate it. It's like a most delicious, warm, nutritious soup that I started with stock and everyone else added the protein, vegetables, and spices which ends up feeding many. I am also getting clearer on how best to serve the needs of women and our I.W. members through an evolution of staying in motion by flow- for a much greater good, learning along the way the important lessons; even the messy ones. I also understand the absolute need after such an event to recoup energies, spending necessary downtime away from technology and social media. Thank you for understanding and allowing me fallow time to collect my thoughts and energy in order to gear up for our next events and to start brainstorming the next conference in 2020. Here is what I know: everyone of us, as imperfect as we are, add much light and vibrancy to each other when we choose to not compare ourselves and embrace our own journeys. When we take self-care time, including time to learn, and just show up in our "messy brilliance" deepening our connections and friendships, we truly not only illuminate ourselves, but also our families, communities, and world. Now is a good time to mark March 7, 2020, in your calendars to be at our next Ignite Your Radiance 2020 conference. May the next 3 quarters of your year be fruitful, healthy, and filled with love and abundant joy.

Blessings to you all,

Speakers - GNO April 19th

Touching the Lives of Military Wives in the PNW

Do you really know what military spouses endure while their partner is serving in the military? Are any of us fully aware of what they deal with day in and day out? This is why Illuminating Woman has chosen as one of the 3 non-profits we support the Northwest Military Wives Foundation. Join us for this special night to learn more about, and how we all can support, these women as they share their incredible stories. Our panel will be led by Kristin Bentley & Company who will be forthright and honest with why they started the foundation, what services it offers, and how they manage through the good and bad giving us a deeper look into the lives of these special women. The more we know about what other women experience the more we illuminate our journey for a greater good meeting many needs.

Northwest Military Wives Foundation is a nonprofit with a mission to empower women married to active duty service members, reservists, and veterans, by engaging them with the local community. We offer free classes such as a yoga series and DIY skincare, family events, grants for career certification, and a therapeutic weekend retreat for wounded warriors and their spouses.

Our annual fundraising event is always centered around WOMEN MAKING A DIFFERENCE, spotlighting local women doing great things in our community. We aim to inspire and motivate military wives to become their best selves, and are always looking for speakers and offer opportunities for vendor tables so business owners can showcase their businesses.

Next, we will learn from our Charter Member, Carla Vincent, who is with Edward Jones, the freedom of working from home while helping people invest and save wisely. Her journey is one that is not without struggles that many of us can relate to.

Carla grew up in New England and went to a small liberal arts college. She moved to Seattle on a whim in 1996. Throughout her life, she has always been tops at setting and achieving her goals, whether it was raising money to become a high school exchange student, traveling, buying a home, divorcing or changing her career.

She is passionate about helping her clients, and more specifically women, understand how they can achieve their goals and stay on track through sound financial decisions.

Becoming a financial advisor has helped her merge her inner accountant and her service heart to change people’s lives.

You’ve got dreams, big one and little ones. So, let me ask you…what are you waiting for? Why haven’t you turned those dreams into reality yet? For so many of us, if we’re honest with ourselves, the answer is because we’re afraid. We’re afraid of failing, afraid of putting ourselves out there, afraid of what people will say… fill in the blank with your specific fear.

I am the creator and founder of Midlife Rewritten. My passion is helping women tame their fears so they can quiet their inner critic, improve their self-confidence and finally get things done!

Are You Considering A Change In Your Home Ownership Status?

“If you don’t know where you’re going … you’ll probably end up somewhere else.” This is the title of a book by David P. Campbell, and the message is simple, if you want to achieve something, you must have a plan!
Be realistic about what you want in home ownership. Will you be living in the home; do you need a roommate? Is this going to be an Airbnb property? Are you going to rent out the property? There are many options to getting your foot in the door, so having an open mind could get you to your home ownership goals faster.
The first step, what is your time frame? Write down when you want to move into your new home. Have you already been preapproved for a loan? You must first have your finances in order. Keep in mind it can take up to 90 days to get an offer accepted on your new property, so you want to consider this. The more flexible you are the better your realtor can leverage your negotiation in closing your deal.
Create your “Need to Have” features and “Want to Have” features. Keep in mind as you begin to see properties in person, these items may change. That is great because it means you are learning and taking in new information to form the best possible outcome for you.
Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each home in relation to your specific needs. It’s normal to get 90% of what you want and very rare to get 100% - unless your budget is unlimited
