Back at It

It’s September! Around here that means scattered backpacks, carpool spreadsheets, and lots of time on the sidelines. And because I live in Austin, it also means digging deep and trying to stay optimistic despite continued 100+ temps. My friends and I call this prevailing threat September Heat Rage™ and the only cure I’ve found are regular dips in the magical waters of Barton Springs.

To keep myself from complaining too too much, I’m ramping up some photography work for the fall. I have some new offerings and would love to work with you! Let me know if I can help capture some of the joy and action in your lives.

As a veteran fan/photographer/athlete, one of my favorite things is to photograph my kids' athletic pursuits. My soccer player son is frequently at the end of my lens, and parents often ask me if I’m able to watch and enjoy his games when I’m shooting them. Pretty sure I enjoy them more with a camera in my hand! I’m fairly competitive and my son is fiercely competitive…so the camera definitely takes the edge off my nerves!

Because I can't get enough of the sidelines, I've decided to spend even more time there and extend my skills to all of you. Do you have a game/match/meet that you would like photographed? Starting in October I’m offering a limited number of weekends to be your sports paparazzi. I can’t guarantee you a final score, but I can promise spirited action shots that you won't get from the bleachers. Prices vary. Email me for details.
When I'm not playing outside, I'm finding other things to get excited about.
A few worth sharing:

• Beautiful and resonant essay by my friend Mary Laura Philpott.
The Great Fortune of Ordinary Sadness

• I mean, what's not to love?
Back-to-school photos and advice from senior citizens.

• This song is in heavy rotation at my house.
Why I’m so grateful for it.

What’s motivating me to keep my kitchen counters clean.
Thanks for your enthusiasm and support!
