CPCF Checklist

Monday 30th September 2019

PSNC is working to provide as much information and as many resources as possible to help community pharmacy teams to understand the details of the new Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) agreement as they are finalised in the ongoing negotiations.

This email is one of a series of recommended actions for community pharmacy contractors to help you to get ready for the introduction of all elements of the five-year CPCF. There is a lot to do and details will be coming out in stages, so this email series will help guide you through the process and highlight all of the resources and support available to you.

15. PQS: Make sure you pharmacy team is ready to start working towards the diabetes quality criterion tomorrow

Community pharmacy contractors are reminded that if they intend to meet the diabetes quality criterion of the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS), they must start working towards this from tomorrow (1st October 2019) and continue with this until 31st January 2020.

Further guidance on how to meet the quality criterion can be found in: PSNC Briefing 043/19: Pharmacy Quality Scheme – Foot and eye screening (retinopathy) checks for patients with diabetes.

The diabetes quality criterion is one of five quality criteria that contractors must meet if they wish to claim for the Prevention domain of the PQS (contractors must meet all quality criteria in a domain to be eligible to claim for that domain). This domain is worth 25 points and has a value of between £1,600 – £3,200 (funding will be divided between qualifying pharmacies based on the number of points they have achieved. Payments will be made to eligible contractors depending on how many domains they have met and hence points claimed).

CPCF Roadshow events
PSNC has been running free roadshow events across England to explain the context of the new five-year CPCF agreement and what it means for pharmacies. We have now reached capacity, but we have now added a digital event to the schedule. Community pharmacists are invited to watch online and to ask questions of PSNC's Negotiating Team. Register for the digital roadshow now: psnc.org.uk/events

Previous editions of this email series can be found in our CPCF hub: psnc.org.uk/5yearCPCF
