Teen & Young Adult Health Center Opens Doors to New Patients

The OneWorld Teen & Young Adult Health Center staff: Dr. Amy Lacroix, Alyssa Watts, Jennifer Ortega, Brittany Griffis, Patty Roberts, Laura Sanchez, Gerald McGuire and Claudia Orozco.

OneWorld's Teen & Young Adult Health Center, located at 4310 S. 24th Street, opened its doors! The clinic, the first of its kind in Nebraska, provides revolutionary health care designed to meet the unique needs of individuals aged 15-24. Southeast Omaha has one of the highest rates of uninsured and delayed care for children and adolescents living in poverty. Douglas County also has one of the highest STD rates in the nation and South Omaha has a high teen pregnancy rate. The clinic staff are experts in providing care to meet these needs, and primary, preventive, behavioral health and supportive services.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on January 26, 2016 to celebrate the clinic’s opening, followed by an open house for teens, young adults, parents and school faculty.

OneWorld's 2015 Year in Review

Making a Difference in the Community for 45 Years

January - OneWorld's Enrollment and Financial Services department assisted Omaha area residents with Marketplace Insurance enrollment, helping reaching a national enrollment total of over 6.6 million.

February - A La Familia meetings kicked off at OneWorld, a Spanish language support group for LGBT individuals, families and allies.

March - OneWorld's Promotora program expanded to better-support Sarpy County residents. Promotoras are community members trained to support and promote health and wellness within their families, neighborhoods and the community.

May - The annual Cinco de Mayo celebration raised $11,327 to support OneWorld's Baby Boutique, that encourages mother to attend prenatal appointments by allowing them to shop for diapers, clothing and other baby needs. OneWorld was also named as a Greater Omaha Business Excellence Award winner by the Chamber of Commerce.

June - OneWorld's Pharmacy installed a new robotic dispensing machine to fill prescriptions with better accuracy and efficiency.

July - Navigators at the Learning Community Center of South Omaha (LCC), operated by OneWorld, trained in the Growing Great Kids model to strengthen their skills in hosting parenting classes and making at-home visits in South Omaha. The LCC's outstanding community work earned the program an honor from President Obama as a Bright Spot in Education.

Over 1,100 children and families attended the Back to School Bash, enjoying free activities, ice cream, bounce houses and the opportunity to explore OneWorld's many services.
