My name is Shannon. Baxter is our lovable family dog, more like a child to me. He had just celebrated his 4th birthday, when he was injured on Christmas Eve. He ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament (ACL). We were told that it would cost $5,000 for surgery. That is $5,000 I did not have.
I had to take my guy home injured. For a large 98 pound dog whose back left leg is now non-weight baring, life is difficult for all of us. He can barely get around. It breaks my heart to see him in pain while I try everything possible to raise the $5000 for his surgery.
From my weekly paycheck, I pay for Baxter’s treatment costs. Cutting back household expenses, I have come up with an extra $600 for the surgery. I attempted to apply for Pet insurance. I was denied, because Baxter’s injury is considered a pre-existing condition by the insurance company.
I applied for Care Credit and was denied. I am approved by Scratch Pay for a $500 loan. My bank approved a $675 loan. I raised $900 running a Facebook fundraiser. I still need $2,325 to move forward with the surgery.
My Vet informed me that the surgery is estimated at $5,000, but could go as high as $6000, if there are complications. .
I am appealing to you to help me with the balance of the surgery costs. Baxter is my all around loving companion; our favorite place is hiking Mount Major or catching waves at the beach. Prior to his injury, Baxter was very energetic and adventurous.
He loved his morning play dates at the dog park, running around playing ball with me or just laying around giving the best cuddles! He is just the sweetest dog. We just love him and are heartbroken over this.
I know these are hard times for a lot of us. Big or small, every dollar is one more closer to giving him a better quality of life. The longer the surgery is delayed; Baxter is at higher risk of rupturing his right leg. This would lead him to being disabled in a wheelchair.
Thank you for your time and consideration!! :) I promise to Pay it Forward when Baxter and I get back on our feet!
