Forgive me! In my haste to send this out, I misread the NHRA coordinator's email and didn't realize there was a part 2 to this project. Everything below is accurate; we do need 20 families to donate $9 each for books. However, we also need to raise funds for 20 Walmart gift cards at $40 each. So, the total we are trying to raise is $980.00 to bring Christmas Cheer to underserved families at Wilburn Elementary. If you want to participate, please send your check to Trinity, earmarked 'Wilburn', by November 23rd. Thank you!
This is the original email:
The members of Trinity have been invited by St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the New Hope Road Alliance* to spread Christmas cheer!
In coordination with Ms. Adams, a social worker at Wilburn Elementary, the New Hope Road Alliance has developed a pandemic-safe way to provide some holiday cheer for 80 Wilburn families who are economically challenged.
Here’s the plan: Each family will receive a $40 Walmart gift card to purchase presents for the child, a grade-appropriate book, and a small “goody bag” containing seasonal treats. The 80 families will pick up their items at a drive-through mini-event on December 3rd.
They have all the items they need, EXCEPT the funding for the grade-level appropriate books. The NHRA has asked if 20 Trinity families would donate $9.00 each for a total of $180.00. These funds will be used to purchase the books needed. If you would like to participate, please mail your check before November 23rd to Trinity, with 'Wilburn books' noted in the memo line.
*The New Hope Road Alliance is comprised of a combination of faith communities in our area working on a project-by-project basis to support the local community, with an emphasis on helping children and youth.
